ACHARI MURG / MANGSHER ACHAR

Achari murg

Ingredients:

  1. Chicken – ½ kg
  2. Onion – 1 no.
  3. Turmeric powder – ½ tb
  4. Red chilli powder – ½ tb
  5. Ginger paste – 1 tb
  6. Garlic paste – 1 tb
  7. Cinnamon – 1”
  8. Mustard oil
  9. Dry red chilli – 2 no.
  10. Hung curd – 1 cup
  11. Panch phoron – ½ tb
  12. Green chilli – 2 no.
  13. Salt

Procedure:

Marinate chicken (1/2 kg) with chopped onion (1 cup.), salt, turmeric powder (1/2 tb), red chilli powder (1/2 tb), garlic paste (1 tb), ginger paste (1 tb), bay leaf (1 no.), cinnamon (1”) and mustard oil (1 ½ tb).

Heat mustard oil (2 tb) in a pan. Add dry red chilli (2 no.) and chopped onion (1 cup). Add the marinated chicken and cover and cook for 5 minutes. Add hung curd (1 cup) and cook till the oil gets separated from the sides. Add water (1/2 cup) and let it boil for 5 minutes.

For tadka – Add mustard oil (2 tb), chopped onion (1 cup). Let the onion became brown then add panch phoron (1/2 tb) and chopped green chilli (1 tb).

Put the tadka over the chicken and switch off the flame.

Serve hot with rice or chapatti.
